The meaning of being in Y.B.A.

It is said, that we are living in "the heartful generation," but is this really the case? Having to face so many issues today, I think that living in a "heartful generation" is what's being desired. In today's society, talking about one's feelings is seen as "dark" and "gloomy", making it harder for youths to openly talk about their feelings. That is the reason why such a group is necessary, where youths can come and be able to openly discuss their feelings. There is no reason to hide your true feelings just because others tell you that talking about your feelings is depressing. Being able to talk about your true feelings is very important in life.

Gomonshu-sama once stated in a message, "The mission of a religion, especially for the present, is not for momentary comfort, but for discovering the path toward the recovery of true humanness."

In the Young Buddhist Association (Y.B.A.) Bylaws, it states that "a Y.B.A. is a gathering of youth who listen to Amida Tathagata's teaching, learn from Shinran Shonin's way of life, endeavor to lead a meaningful life, are enthusiastic young Buddhists, and uphold the aim of carrying out a wide-range of activities for the benefit of society." I think it is important that we keep these words in mind, together with the message by the Gomonshu-sama, as we move forward in life.

As we think about life's issues, coming together as young Buddhists, we are all taking an important role in making our friendship circle grow. It is through the help of each member that Y.B.A. is continuing today.

I think that being able to share out heart with one another is the best way in appreciating and cherishing each other.

Let us all work together, looking towards fulfilling these aims.
